Our History

Who We Are

Our company’s foundation lies in the shared background and guidance of both principals. Their diverse strengths meld harmoniously to create a collaborative dynamic that curbs unforeseen challenges arising from conflicting interests or a single decision-maker. Our portfolio spans diverse project types—residential, medical, retail, and commercial—across geographical expanses from Maine to California, positioning us to offer services akin to larger firms.

Larger companies grapple with inconsistencies due to multiple associates handling projects, resulting in variable work quality even within similar scopes. Our boutique size grants us the privilege of project selection, enabling focused attention on your endeavors, ensuring smooth project progression from start to finish, and reducing potential disruptions. Both principals, graduates of Southern Polytechnic State University (now KSU), accrued over thirteen years of mentoring under renowned figures in commercial and automotive domains, cementing our commitment to operational excellence.

Meet the team

Our Founders

Brice E. Johnson | Principal

My focus is providing excellence, care, and close attention to detail in all phases of design, development, permit and construction. I consider myself a modern gentleman in both persona and business practice. Integrity is central. Residing in Colorado, any free time allows for more camping, hiking, biking, and or snowboarding adventures. All these activities make for a great work-life balance

Cord McLean | Principal, AIA, NCARB

My exposure to great architecture started at an early age, resulted in me having an appreciation for not only aesthetically pleasing design but an understanding of spatial relationships and its importance on the building occupants. When not working, Cord is actively engaged in his community and neighborhood, whether through Fernandina Beach Main Street’s Design Council or member of the Architectural Review Board. He can often be found wondering the beaches looking for shark’s teeth, taking the family out on the boat or finding ‘historical detours’ on his travels.

Hayden Scott | Architectural Intern

My interest in architecture began with the ruins of Christiansted, V.I. Now that I have graduated with my bachelor’s degree in architecture, I am working with JMD while attending graduate school in pursuit of my master’s degree. I pride myself on my honesty, reliability, and the drive to always give my best to any work, no matter the scope. In my down time I enjoy fishing, playing guitar, and practicing piano.
